Plan Your VisitWaikato Museum will be welcoming a few new buddies in late November when the Buddies from Buddy Day will be exhibited in Upper Gallery after their big day out.
The Buddies are created by local school children before being adopted out into the community on the November 15. Between the 18 and 24 November they will move into the Museum, where you can visit them until the 6 December. Every Buddy has their own bio with them, so you can spend time with them and read their stories.
Buddy Day has become a national success story and is the initiative of Child Matters. Buddy Day is a visual reminder ‘it takes a community to look after a child’. It is a fun day, designed to raise awareness and start conversations about child abuse and what we all can do to stop it.
Buddy Day 2013 will be held in Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Wellington, but everyone, everywhere can be part of Buddy Day, with online Buddies available.
By exhibiting the buddies we hope to increase awareness even further and give their creators a chance to celebrate them in a museum space.
