Fancy Dress - Portraits by Gilbert Melrose

Waikato photographer Gilbert Melrose’s images, taken in 1957, depict the annual Children’s Fancy Dress Ball at the Walton District Hall, near Matamata.

The silver gelatine prints, lovingly produced by Melrose’s second cousin, photographer Yvonne Todd, were acquired by Trust Waikato in 2013. This is the first museum show devoted to Melrose’s work.
