Past Exhibition

In 1737 France held the first of the annual ‘salon’ exhibitions, showing almost 2,000 artworks on the walls of the Louvre Palace in Paris. Pictures at an Exhibition takes its title from Mussorgsky’s piano composition that was inspired by the composer’s experience of seeing works at an exhibition. A broad selection of Waikato Museum Te Whare Taonga’s collection artworks will be hung salon-style in a cadenza of splendid colour, tone, line, form and beauty.
