Exclusive event with Astronomy Photographer of the Year finalist

Award-winning astrophotographer Mike White will share his personal journey photographing Aurora Australis, the 'Southern Lights'.

Among other accolades, Mike was named as a finalist in Royal Museums Greenwich's Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition, currently on display here at Te Whare Taonga.

About photographer Mike White

Formerly an airline pilot, Mike has always enjoyed exploring New Zealand’s stunning scenery.

He is based in Canterbury and his award-winning photography features New Zealand’s superb night skies and natural landscapes.

Mike is an accredited member of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography where he holds the distinction of Master of Photography and he also holds an Associate distinction with the Photographic Society of New Zealand.

Selected by an international jury for inclusion in the exhibition Astronomy Photographer of the Year, Mike's photo titled 'Passage of a Lunar Eclipse' was taken in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.
