Past Exhibition

Featuring the work of high school-aged artists, this exhibition looks at the idea of art as a voice; a means of projection and expression. In a time where the standing place of New Zealand’s young people is culturally and socially debated, these young artists aim to make their own voices heard.

Through their work, these artists explore their own understanding of what it means to be a young person in Hamilton. Here, the voice has been given back to young people, to break down common views of who they are believed to be, and instead show who they really are; deeply passionate individuals, eager to leave their mark on the world. These pieces present viewers with an insight into the eyes, minds, hearts and experiences of Hamilton’s young people.

Zeal is a national youth organisation passionate about empowering young people to discover, express and develop their unique creativity. In Hamilton, Zeal runs Creative Pathway courses in Photography, Illustration & Design, Artist Identity, and more. For more information, visit zeal.nz.
