Stations of the Cross: John Badcock

At the first Station of the Cross, Christ is condemned to death. John Badcock sees this beginning is a metaphor of his first experience with religion, a Christian funeral. The paintings in this exhibition are also invested with childhood memories spent in the Routeburn and Paradise Valleys. They recall the vulnerability and the raw essence of the landscape felt and seen by John as he painted.
